Plastic is a very interesting material for creativity, it resembles plasticine, but which hardens when baked. You can make small items from it, for example, jewelry, figurines, fridge magnets, dolls.
Manufacturers produce whole lines of polymer clay, imitating stone, metal, glittering, phosphorescent, translucent. There is where to roam. But do not forget about safety precautions. To protect yourself and your loved ones from trouble, you need to know a few rules for using polymer clay:
- Wash hands thoroughly after handling plastic. In the composition of this material, plasticizers, which are toxic when ingested, can get poisoned. Therefore, hygiene should not be forgotten in any case.
- Keep out of the reach of children, especially small children, who are pulling everything interesting into their mouths for study. If you decide to carry out joint work with a child, then you must make sure that the child does not lick her hands during the process, and after work, wash them thoroughly with soap and water.
- Do not bake polymer clay with food. Plasticizers evaporate and release toxic substances. In addition, plastic has a specific smell that will settle on the products. For the same reason, the oven must be thoroughly washed after baking polymer clay in it.
- Do not exceed the baking temperature specified in the instructions, it is 110-130 ° C, depending on the manufacturer. If you do not observe the temperature regime, there is a chance not only to spoil the product, but also to get poisoned by the poisonous gas that is released during the combustion of the plastic. If the polymer clay is still fried, you need to go out and thoroughly ventilate the room.
