A simple wooden boat is an indispensable companion for a person who loves to relax on suburban waters, fish and raft along the rivers on hiking trips. Unlike other water transport, a boat is easy to make on your own if you know how to handle wood and have the right tools to make it. A boat made by hand can carry a load of up to 400 kg, and later, if you wish, you can install a motor and sail on it.

It is necessary

  • - boards;
  • - plywood sheets;
  • - Oil paint;
  • - whitewash;
  • - nails;
  • - screws.

Instructions

Step 1

For the manufacture of the boat, prepare the materials - seven pine boards 15-20 mm thick, 300 mm wide and 5 m long. You will need these boards to cover the hull of the boat. Also prepare three pine boards 4 m long, 300 mm wide and 50 mm thick, a pine board 30x200 mm 2 m long and two plywood sheets up to 5 mm thick. To fill the joints, you need a kilogram of oil paint, as well as three kilograms of white on drying oil. To secure the boat parts, prepare 1.5 kg of 5 cm nails and 1 kg of screws of the same length.

Step 2

Start crafting your boat by making frames. Frames must rise 200 mm above the side. After the frames, make the stem and transom, install them on the keel board, the length of which is 4 m, and the cross section is 50x20 mm, using nails. Nail the benches between the frames.

Step 3

Attach the upper sides of the frames, stem and transom to the side mounting boards. Remove the overhead boards when the work is completed, and also at the end of the work, cut off the extra edges of the frames - 200 mm protruding above the stern. Nail the lower side boards with nails.

Step 4

Tear off the keelboard and nail in its place the boards that make up the bottom of the boat. Attach the top boards to the boat. At the joints of the bottom boards, fasten three false sheets so that the joints are tight.

Step 5

Dig the joints between the boards by moistening tow in drying oil, and then sand the joints with sandpaper. At the bow of the boat, make a trunk out of plywood for things. If you fish, set up a catch cage under the middle bench.

Step 6

Paint the boat outside and inside with two to three coats of oil paint. Make two oars from the boards prepared in advance. The boat is ready.
