Spearfishing is considered a sport. This is a competition for agility, endurance and patience - after all, you need to track down and catch the fish while holding your breath. However, this sport also has a number of limitations.

Fishing bans

Any hunt - land or underwater - is a devastating impact on the ecosystem. Therefore, restrictions have been introduced into the hunter's code urging people to keep within reason. So, submariners are allowed to hunt only when holding their breath, because scuba gear or any other breathing apparatus gives a person the opportunity to easily catch. And this means - the possibility of unreasonable, limitless destruction of fish. Or simply poaching.

Underwater hunting rules involve tracking fish from the surface of the water, and then diving with a breath holding and firing a shot from an underwater gun. In this case, the equipment consists of: a mask, fins, a breathing tube, a swimming or wetsuit, ballast weights, an underwater gun and a towed buoy. But the self-contained underwater breathing apparatus is prohibited for use in spearfishing in almost all countries of the world.

For the same reason, other restrictions have been introduced. Hunt only in specially designated places for permitted species of fish and animals (not uncommon, not included in nature-protected documents). Hunting during spawning is prohibited - after all, this can cause huge damage to the number of fish. You cannot hunt young fish that have not grown up - only adult fish. The hunter or fisherman has no right to throw away the catch: if it was only a sporting interest and the catch itself does not matter, the caught specimens must be released back into the reservoir with minimal damage. It is forbidden to use explosive, toxic, narcotic drugs - they harm the entire environment.

Fishing ethics

Thus, a hunter or fisherman (and spearfishing refers to fishing) must take good care of the ecosystem and extract exactly as many resources as he needs, and nothing more. Fishing ethics prescribes to show rationality and humanity - to give the population the opportunity to recover and not to hunt constantly in the same water bodies. Murder for the sake of murder is frowned upon in angling sports circles. The types and quantities of fish caught in the competition are also strictly regulated.

Underwater hunters are also prohibited from hunting in places of mass and organized recreation of people. The activities of underwater hunters are regulated by the "Rules of Amateur and Sport Fishing", as well as by the regulations of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
