Instructions
Step 1
Press Ctrl + N to open the settings for a new Photoshop document, where you will need to enter the size of the sides of the picture, specify the background color and select the color mode. If you need to add a star to an already prepared file, open it with the Ctrl + O keys.
Step 2
A star, the color and shape of which can be edited without applying special filters, is easy to draw with the Custom Shape tool. To do this, activate the desired tool and adjust the base color in which the created shape will be painted by clicking on the swatch in the tool palette.
Step 3
Open the window with sample shapes by clicking on the button located to the right of the Shape field in the panel under the main program menu. Select one of the Star series samples.
Step 4
After turning on the Shape layers mode in the tool settings, place the cursor on the document, hold down the left mouse button and drag the shape to the desired size. The drawn star will appear on a new, automatically created layer.
Step 5
You can edit the shape of the star. To do this, turn on the Direct Selection tool and click on the end of one of the rays that make up the shape. Move any of the anchor points that have become visible in the desired direction. To change the color of the star, call the palette by double-clicking on the thumbnail of the layer with the star in the layers palette. Select a new color by clicking on an area with a suitable shade.
Step 6
You can also draw a star using the Brush tool. To do this, add a layer to the document where the picture will be located by pressing Ctrl + N + Shift. You can draw a star in the background without creating a new layer.
Step 7
With the Brush tool turned on, open the brush palette from the Brush Tip Shape tab. Select a suitable sample by clicking on it. Click on the document and make a brushprint on the layer.
Step 8
If you need to get not a single shape, but to scatter stars that differ in size and color over the layer, adjust the dynamics of the brush. To do this, in the Brush Tip Shape tab, adjust the value of the Spacing parameter, which controls the distance between individual brush marks.
Step 9
To get stars of different sizes, go to the Shape Dynamics tab and adjust the Size Jitter parameter.
Step 10
Adjust the amount of scatter in the Scattering tab. By adjusting the Scatter value, you control how far from the toolpath the prints will be. The Count parameter controls the number of brush marks flying out.
Step 11
Paint over the document layer where the stars should be.
Step 12
Save the resulting image by pressing Ctrl + S.
