If you can handle a thermometer, specify the size of its permutation - determine what difference is obtained in the course of hours in an hour, then in a day.

Step 1
If the clock has a big difference in time from the "standard", i.e. of an accurate clock that cannot be adjusted with a thermometer, in order to correct the lag, the spiral should be shortened. Remove the pin securing the coil to the column, then slide the end of the coil. If the watch suffers from haste, it is necessary to do the same operation, but this time to lengthen the spiral.
Step 2
If you are dealing with a balance watch, you can try changing not only the length of the spiral, but also the weight of the balance. If the watch is in a hurry, add screws on the rim of the balance, if they are lagging behind - on the contrary, reduce their number. Sawing off the screw heads from below can also lighten the weight. Thin brass washers can be placed under the screws to increase the weight. Unscrew it, insert the washer and screw it back on.
Step 3
After each performed manipulation, check the correctness of the balance of the balance on the overweight machine. In no case should the balance be disturbed.
Step 4
It is not recommended to increase the distance between the pins of the regulator, this leads to a lag of the clock. The gap between the two pins or pin and the lock should be as small as possible. But so that the regulator lock does not bend or pull the spiral when the regulator is repositioned in any direction.
Step 5
If you are dealing with a pendulum clock - in them the daily rate is regulated by turning the nut, from which the pendulum lens rises and falls. During adjustment, the lens is slightly supported with the free hand so that the pendulum does not stand motionless (this is necessary so that the suspension spring does not break).
Step 6
If the watch is in a hurry, turn the nut to the left and make sure that the lens goes down. If they lag behind, everything is the same, only turn the nut to the right, the lens rises.
Step 7
A reference chronometer should be available to check the watch (accuracy). It is important that the readings of the second hand are consistent with the readings of the minute.
