A pickup is a mechanical-to-electrical vibration converter. Thanks to it, mechanical reproduction and sound recording is possible. The two main elements of a pickup are the head and the tonearm. Professional pickups compare favorably with homemade ones both in design and in sound quality, but no one will forbid you to make a unique pickup for your electric guitar.
It is necessary
- Varnished wire (diameter 0.1-0.2 mm);
- Insulating tape;
- A smooth piece of plastic;
- 6 string bolts;
- Glue;
- Brass strip;
- Magnet.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut six plastic plates. Glue them together so that the top and bottom planes are elliptical. The vertical planes will form a parallelepiped, the edges of which are 5-10 mm inside.
Step 2
Drill six holes in the horizontal (elliptical) planes. It is better to calculate their location and the distance between them in advance, since it should be the same. You will insert the bolts into the holes later.
Step 3
Wind a wire around the inner planes. If handing is too long or difficult, use a screwdriver. The main thing is that the wire does not break, and one end of it remains to divert the contact.
Step 4
Wrap a strip of brass and shielding tape over the wire. Solder the wires to the pickup.
Step 5
Glue a magnet to the bottom ellipse. Screw the device to the guitar.
