Before you start knitting things, you need to complete a typesetting row. There are several ways to set loops on the knitting needles. Its choice depends on the purpose of the inlaid edge, which can be rigid, elastic or decorative. The appearance of the product largely depends on the accuracy of the execution, therefore it is very important to type the loops on the knitting needles correctly.

Instructions
Step 1
Determine the length of the free end of the yarn. For thin yarn - 1 cm per 1 loop, and for thick yarn - 1.5-2 cm per 1 loop, plus add another 15-20 cm to the result.
Step 2
For knitting all kinds of patterns, use the traditional stitching method. Draw the thread around the index and thumb of your left hand so that the free end of the yarn lies towards you on the thumb, and the thread from the ball is on the index finger.
Step 3
Bring the knitting needle upwards under the thread on the thumb, grab the thread on the index finger and pull it through the loop of the thumb. Drop the loop from your finger and tighten on the knitting needles.
Step 4
Continue the set of loops. Place the knitting needles under the loop on the thumb, grab the thread on the index finger, and pull it through the loop on the thumb. Remove the loop from your finger and tighten on the knitting needles. Repeat until you have the required number of loops.
Step 5
Use a double set of loops to knit 1x1 elastic bands. Sew the start buttonhole as described in step # 3 and the first buttonhole as described in step # 4.
Step 6
Then insert the knitting needle from the bottom up into the loop at the thumb, but which is closer to the knitting needles. Grab the thread from your index finger and pull it through the loops. Drop the loop from the thumb and tighten it on the spoke. Alternate the set of loops.
Step 7
If an elastic band is not provided for knitting a model, then it is best to make a typesetting row in a cruciform manner, it is also called a set of loops with a thickened edge, or a Bulgarian beginning. With such a set method, the edge is very neat and even, and the volumetric interweaving of threads with this set is also beautiful.
Step 8
Unwind the end of the yarn from the ball twice as long as necessary to set the initial row in a simple way. Fold this end in half and place it over the index finger of your left hand with the end extending from the ball, and on the thumb, form a loop from the double thread.
Step 9
Draw the rest of the loops with one thread, and form the bottom edge from a double thread. To knit the second and all even-numbered loops, throw the thread over the thumb, bring the knitting needles under the outer part of this thread, grab the yarn coming from the index finger and pull it out of the loop. Remove the loop from the thumb and double-stitch it over the knitting needle.
