Russia Day, celebrated on June 12, gathers thousands of people on Red Square every year. However, this makes increased demands on ensuring the safety of the assembled people, which, in turn, sometimes prevents the townspeople and guests of the capital from freely entering the square.

Step 1

To prevent the celebration of the Day of Russia from being overshadowed by unpleasant events, law enforcement agencies have to do a lot of work. In particular, Red Square is closed for visiting for several days, this is due to the need for a thorough check of all facilities to ensure security. In 2012, the square was closed to the public for 5 days - from 8 to 12 June. On the day of the celebration, the Moscow Kremlin was also closed, only the Armory was open for access, the entrance was carried out from the side of the Borovitskaya Tower.

Step 2

The fact that Red Square was closed before the holiday does not mean that on June 12 it was open to everyone. All the passages to it were still closed, it was possible to get in only by invitation card. Therefore, many Muscovites who wanted to get to the concert dedicated to the Day of Russia were never able to get to Red Square. The statements of the organizers of the event about free admission turned out to be, to put it mildly, untrue.

Step 3

Invitation tickets to the concert were actively distributed in universities among "excellent students, student self-government activists and competition winners." In some places, free tickets were sold, the price went up to 500 rubles. They were sold especially smartly before the start of the concert. Having paid the specified amount to the speculators, the townspeople and guests of the capital could still get to the holiday.

Step 4

Internet users found themselves in a somewhat more advantageous position, they had the opportunity to find addresses where they could receive flyers, which, in turn, were exchanged for an entrance ticket elsewhere. It is rather difficult to find a logical explanation for such a complex scheme for obtaining the coveted ticket. It remains to be hoped that next year the organizers of the holiday will nevertheless meet the citizens and guests of the capital halfway and make the entrance to Red Square truly free.
