Sakis Rouvas is one of the most popular Greek singers, who has more than two dozen successful albums and prestigious music awards on his account. His songs have a characteristic and well-recognizable sound, which can be characterized rather by the style of pop-rock with an admixture of traditional Greek motives.
Biography: childhood and adolescence
Sakis Rouvas was born on January 5, 1972 on the Greek island of Corfu. Some sources claim that he has an artistic family. In fact, Sakis's parents, Anna-Maria Panaretou and Kostas Rouvas, have nothing to do with music. They worked at the local airport. Father is an ordinary driver, and mother is a saleswoman in duty-free. Sakis has a younger brother, Tolis.
As a child, he was little pampered. Parents paid him due attention. In addition, Rouvas started working early because the family did not have enough money. This tempered the character of the future singer and, to some extent, contributed to his success on stage.
At the age of 10, he became interested in theater. He was taken to play in a local children's theater studio. In parallel, Rouvas often performed in theaters in Corfu.
When Sakis was 12 years old, his parents broke up. Together with his brother, he moved to live with his father's parents, who were in another part of Corfu. Soon, my father married again. Sakis went back to work, and the theater had to quit. During that period, he began to master the guitar and listen to foreign singers. In addition, Rouvas decided to go in for sports. Since 1991, Sakis began performing in Athens. In the same year, the famous record company PolyGram signed a contract with him to release an album. A few months later, he became the first in a music competition with the track Par 'ta. Soon the debut album Sakis Rouvas was released, which was at the first places in the Greek charts. A year later, the second album Min Antistekesai was released, and Rouvas strengthened his popularity.
In 1997, Sakis was awarded the rather prestigious Ipekci Peace Prize for his participation in a peacemaking concert on the border of Greece and Turkey. Soon he decided to gain popularity in other European countries. In 2002 Rouvas presented his next album in France. This was followed by a performance in the legendary Parisian hall "Olympia" on Boulevard des Capucines.
In 2004, Sakis took part in the popular Eurovision Song Contest. He finished third with the song Shake It. Five years later, he decided to try his luck again in this competition. However, this time he became only the seventh.

Personal life
Sakis Rouvas is married to model Katya Ziguli, who is quite famous in Greece. They have been living together for a long time, but the couple formalized their marriage only in 2017. Katya gave birth to Sakis three children: two girls and a boy.
