Initially, the cape is the clothing of the pilgrims. The pilgrims wore hooded capes, and they sewed capes mostly from thick fabrics. Then these clothes were adopted by women of fashion, and the capes became very diverse. In a modern suit, a cape can have several functions. As in the old days, it warms. But it can also be part of an elegant costume, especially if it is knitted with an openwork pattern.
It is necessary
- 200-300 g woolen or cotton yarn of medium thickness
- Knitting needles number 2
- Hook number 2
Instructions
Step 1
Measure the circumference of your neck and calculate the garter stitches. Start knitting the cape from the top of the hood. Add another 15-20 cm to the neck circumference for the hem of the hood and a loose fit. Cast on the needles the required number of loops and knit 1 row with front loops. Find the middle of the row and mark it with a different color of thread. Then knit with garter stitch, decreasing the loops around the edges in every fourth row. Work the entire length of the hood like this. At the end, you should be left with a number of loops corresponding to the girth of the neck.
Step 2
Without removing the knitting, tie a small stand with the cord holes. In the 2-3 row of the rack, tying 3 loops from the beginning, make a yarn over and knit the next 2 loops together. Make these holes evenly throughout the rack so that the latter is symmetrical to the first. You can make holes in another way - close 2-3 loops in one row at equal distances, and in the next row, dial the required number of loops.
Step 3
After knitting 5-6 centimeters of the rack, start knitting the cape itself. Knit it with openwork stripes. 1 row - after the edge 1 yarn, 2 together with the front. Knit the 2nd row according to the picture. 3 row - front loops, 4 - purl, repeat pattern from 5 row.
Step 4
From row 3, start adding loops. Find the lines along which you will do this, and mark them with colored threads, which you will then remove. Divide the knitting into 4 parts. The first line is a cut, that is, you need to add loops after the first edge and before the last. The second and fourth lines will go over the shoulders, and the third will go down the middle of the back. Add 1 loop after the hem, tie to the middle of the shoulder and in the center, knit from one loop 3. Do the same in the middle of the back and in the middle of the other shoulder. Make sure that the addition lines are straight.
Step 5
Knit with the addition of loops to the desired length of the cape. Close the hinges. Crochet or sew on the top seam of the hood. Crochet the cape as follows: 5 stitches with 2 yarn overs in each loop of the horizontal line, 1 half stitch. Tie the vertical lines in the same pattern, but 2 columns in each loop of the edge chain.
