The tablecloth on the dining table is an invariable attribute of comfort in every home. Square or rectangular tablecloths will fit almost any table. But in order for it to look neat and blend in with the interior, it is worth choosing it to match the shape of the table. Sewing a custom-shaped tablecloth with your own hands is quite simple.

It is necessary

  • - the cloth;
  • - scissors;
  • - threads;
  • - a needle;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - ruler;
  • - tracing paper;
  • - pencil.

Instructions

Step 1

Spread the tracing paper on an oval tabletop, fix it by placing a weight on top, and trace the shape of the tabletop with a pencil.

Step 2

Remove the tracing paper from the table, carefully cut the resulting oval with scissors along the pencil contour. Now you have a pattern for the future tablecloth.

Step 3

Spread the fabric of your choice on a wide table or on a clean floor. The material must be clean and ironed so that wrinkles do not affect the shape of the workpiece.

Step 4

Put the mold on the fabric and press it with any weight so that it does not move during further work.

Step 5

Use a ruler to measure the height of the oval-top table for which the tablecloth is intended.

Step 6

Add ¾ from the table height on each side of the template, make notes at the appropriate distance from the template, and then trace the resulting outline with a pencil on the fabric.

Step 7

Remove the pattern from the fabric, cut out the blank of the future tablecloth with scissors along the pencil contour.

Step 8

Fold the edge of the workpiece inward once, secure with a basting (sew by hand).

Step 9

Fold the basting edge inward again and stitch on the sewing machine.

Step 10

Remove the hand-bent threads from the finished tablecloth.
