Darts is a game of throwing darts at a round target. In Great Britain, darts is a national game, but it is equally popular all over the world. And more and more fans of this wonderful game appear in Russia. Despite the apparent simplicity, this game has a lot of nuances that are of the utmost importance. The first challenge a beginner darts player faces is the ability to hold the dart correctly.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a dart. Until you learn how to hold and throw the dart correctly, use the standard feathers and medium dart lengths. From now on, use only the dart model that suits your playing style. Remember that a dart must be selected for each individual person, just as glasses are selected completely individually. It is no coincidence that there are a huge number of different models of darts. What is perfect for one player will become completely unacceptable for another. After all, each player has his own special way of moving, holding his hand, swinging …
Step 2
Determine the center of gravity of the dart. To do this, place it on your finger and balance by sliding the dart forward or backward. When the ends are balanced, the middle of the dart will rest on your finger.
Step 3
Place your thumb directly under your found center of gravity, and your index and middle finger above it. Take a firm grip on the dart shaft.
Step 4
Stand freely, slightly sideways to the target. The toe of the right toe touches the line, but does not cross it. To get used to not budging during the throw, place a box in front of the crash on the line. This will help develop the skills of the correct stance.
Step 5
Raise the dart to about eye level in front of your face. Fix the shoulder firmly - it should be motionless, and the forearm should move freely.
Step 6
Relax your wrist completely. The dart should point upward while aiming, but should not stick out vertically. The sharper and stronger your throw, the smaller the angle of rise should be. Some experienced players will completely align the dart horizontally in line with the target. You first need to learn how to throw a dart in a parabola and, with increasing experience, reduce the curvature of the flight arc.
Step 7
The body must be stable. To prevent your left hand from distracting you (if you are right-handed), press it to your stomach or put it behind your back. To close the target distance, you can lean forward slightly.
Step 8
Don't throw the dart like a ball. Throwing power should only be achieved by moving the forearm and wrist.
