Guitarists have two seating methods. This is the classic method, when the guitar is placed on the left leg with a notch in the shell (all recommendations are given below for a right-handed guitarist), and the everyday method, when the guitar is placed on the right leg. Both ways have the right to exist, and the musician can hold the guitar in either of them, depending on the style of the music being played. But in both cases, you need to remember the basic rules of planting.

Step 1
First, find a chair that is suitable for the game. It should be such that when you sit on it, your thighbone is parallel to the floor. In case you want to use the classic fit, you will need a footrest. Usually it is a wooden structure 5-10 cm high and a surface area sufficient to place a foot on it.
Step 2
Sit on the edge of a chair so that you feel comfortable. For a classic fit, place your left foot on the stand. This will raise your knee. Place your guitar on your left foot. When doing this, your right leg should be pushed out to the side just enough for the body of the guitar to sit comfortably and firmly in your feet. Bring the body closer to the body. In this case, the deck of the guitar during the game should be perpendicular or almost perpendicular to the plane of the floor. Find a position that is comfortable for you. Try to keep your back straight.
Step 3
If you want to use a non-classic fit, then you don't need a stand. Place the guitar with the notch in the shell on your right leg. All other recommendations are the same as for the classic fit.
Step 4
Place your right hand on the body of the guitar so that your palm rests over the strings in the resonator area (about halfway covering it). At the same time, the elbow of the hand should be approximately at the junction of the shell and the top deck. Correct the position of the arm so that it is comfortable for you.
Step 5
The fingers of the right hand should be on the strings, while being only slightly bent at the joints.
Step 6
Grasp the neck of the guitar with your left palm underneath. The correct position of the left hand is when the palm touches the bar only with the pads of the "playing" fingers (or, when using the barre technique, the entire surface of the finger) and part of the surface of the thumb.
Step 7
The thumb, located on the back of the bar, should not go too low or rise too high. Moreover, it should not be shown above the top edge of the neck.
