Lead shot can be bought today in almost any hunting store. But since Soviet times, the times of scarcity, recipes for self-preparation of shot at home have been preserved.
It is necessary
- - lead
- - frying pan
- - drill
- - cotton fabric
- - basin
- - water
- - gas stove or blowtorch
Instructions
Step 1
Take a frying pan. Drill a thin hole in the bottom from the very edge. The hole should be no thicker than a needle. Light a gas stove or blowtorch. Place a frying pan on top. Let it get warm. Put lead (3-4 kg) in the pan. From a cotton fabric, cut a strip no more than 3 cm wide and no more than 10 cm long. Moisten the strip in water, roll it up, and secure it with a groove. Secure the strip so that droplets of molten lead drip onto it and then run down it into a bowl filled with water. The strip must remain wet throughout the entire shot making process. The drop distance of the lead droplet and the roll-off distance should be approximately 3 cm.
Step 2
The faster the lead melts, the faster it will flow out of the hole, which means that the smaller the shot will be. Monitor the temperature constantly. After waiting for the desired number, turn down the heat, fix the temperature. In this way, you can get a fraction from 3 to 10 numbers. Using this technology, and gradually adding lead, you can get 5-6 kg of shot in one hour. If the shot turns out to be egg-shaped, then the distance of the fall of the lead on the rag should be increased or decreased.
