The Middle Ages remains one of the favorite topics of creative people. Some symbolic elements of that time - for example, a shield, are still actively used to create logos.

Step 1
Before you start drawing the shield, it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the history of its origin and some of the design features. The shield can be of very different shapes: round, oval, rectangular, teardrop, etc. The most recognizable and characteristic is the Varangian or French form of the shield. It is most convenient to place various graphical and textual information on these.
Step 2
The shield is a symmetrical figure, therefore, in order to depict it qualitatively, you will have to practice. Work on drawing one side of the shield first. Try to do this without lifting the pencil from the paper, in one line. After that, start drawing the other side. When it starts to work out on the first try, you can move on to the image of the whole figure. For more convenience, start drawing from the top horizontal line. From it down, draw the lines that have already been worked out, depicting the sides of the shield.
Step 3
Particular attention and patience will require drawing the lower point of the shield, where the sides converge. This part can be rounded or pointed. Your task is to accurately connect both side lines, avoiding skewing. To achieve this result, there is one secret: when drawing a line, direct your gaze to where it should go - in this case, the hand will automatically create the ideal trajectory.
Step 4
After you master drawing shields of simple shapes, you can move on to the image of more complex ones. The image of symmetrical figures of strict forms perfectly develops the eye and improves the coordination of the work of the right hemisphere and hands. Ready-made shield drawings can be used as a logo or bookplate.
