Solving crosswords is the favorite word game of many people around the world. Crosswords perfectly train memory, help to gain new knowledge, improve logical thinking. In addition, solving crosswords is a great way to relax and take a break from the worries of everyday life. There are several types of crosswords. Naturally, they are solved in different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
The classic crossword puzzle is a grid with hidden words crossed horizontally and vertically. Each first cell of the word contains a number (question number). The solved words fit into the grid of the crossword puzzle from top to bottom and from left to right.
Step 2
The Scandinavian crossword puzzle is a grid in which both the hidden words and the riddle questions themselves are inscribed. The principle of solving a Scandinavian crossword puzzle (scanword) is quite simple. The word-answer should be entered into the grid of the crossword puzzle in the direction of the arrow emanating from the definition of the conceived concept. There are much more common letters in intersecting words here than in a classic crossword puzzle. There should not be a single empty cell in a completely solved scanword.
Step 3
Today, Japanese crosswords are especially popular among people, aimed at solving an image, and not words. They can be colored or black and white. The crossword puzzle grid is initially empty. Above and, mainly, to the left of it, opposite each cell (in a colored Japanese crossword puzzle), multi-colored numbers are written, indicating how many cells of one color or another are in the corresponding row or column. In a black and white puzzle, each group of cells in a row or column is separated by at least 1 empty cell.
Step 4
The grid of the keyword outwardly resembles the grid of a classic crossword puzzle. But here each cell contains a number corresponding to a particular letter. The same numbers are the same letters, different numbers are different letters. Thus, when solving one word, the literal meaning of some secret numbers becomes known. It should be entered into all cells of the keyword. Often, one of the words of the crossword puzzle is open as a clue.
Step 5
Another interesting puzzle is the shuttle crossword puzzle. This is a cell field with directional arrows transferred outside of it. Words in such a crossword puzzle are not fenced off from each other. The conceived words fit into the grid sequentially in the direction of the arrows, like a snake. Each definition of a word indicates the number of its letters.
Step 6
The Estonian crossword puzzle is a grid in which the hidden words are fenced off from each other by a compacted cell wall. Words fit horizontally and vertically, intersecting in some cells of the grid.
Step 7
Chineword is a crossword puzzle, the grid of which can be round, square, or triangular. Mystery words in the tea-word follow each other. Every last letter of one word is the first letter of the second.
Step 8
The Hungarian crossword field is already filled with letters. The hidden words should be found within the boundaries of such a crossword grid. Words can bend horizontally and vertically. They touch each other, but have no letters in common. In many Hungarian crosswords, puzzle illustrations are inserted into the letter field, the answers to which are also hidden in the crossword grid.
