The Union Jack flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is one of the oldest in the world. The crosses on its blue background represent the crosses of the patron saints of England, Scotland and Ireland and symbolize unity. Therefore, when drawing the flag, it is very important to observe the correct proportions.
It is necessary
simple pencil, eraser, white, blue and red paints
Instructions
Step 1
Draw a rectangle. The horizontal to vertical ratio should be 1: 2. In our example, these are, respectively, 12 and 6 cm.
Step 2
Start drawing the flag with the red vertical cross of Saint George, the patron saint of England. Draw a horizontal line straight through the middle of the rectangle with a pencil. Step back from it up and down 3 cm and make two more lines. You should have a 6 cm wide strip. Draw the vertical component of the cross in the same way.
Step 3
Draw a white border for the cross. To do this, step back from the horizontal line through the center, 5 cm in both directions and draw two straight lines. Draw vertical lines in the same way.
Step 4
Erase with the eraser the lines going through the center of the rectangle. Leave only the point indicating their intersection. Also remove the excess in the borders of the red and white crosses.
Step 5
Then start drawing the white diagonal cross of the patron saint of Scotland, St. Andrew (in fact, this is our St. Andrew's flag). The width of its stripes is also 6 cm. Similar to how you drew the red vertical cross, draw the outlines of the diagonal with a pencil.
Step 6
Mark the last red diagonal cross of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, on the flag. It should be positioned within the borders of white and drawn similarly to it. The red cross stripes are two centimeters wide.
Step 7
But there is one peculiarity here - the red stripes are offset from the center in different ways. On the right side of the flag, step back from the upper borders of the white cross stripes by 1 cm. On the left side, make a similar indent from the bottom edge.
Step 8
Erase any extra strokes and apply red and white paint to the corresponding crosses. Make the background blue.
