Mahjong is an ancient Chinese gambling game for four players that combines elements of dominoes and poker. Mastering the game helps to improve memory, attentiveness and perseverance.
It is necessary
- - a set of dice for playing mahjong;
- - 2 hexagonal dice;
- - a set of chips or a notebook and a pen for counting points;
- - badges showing winds.
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the bones. There are three suits: dots (dots), bamboos and signs (symbols). Each contains bones from 1 to 9. In addition, there are dragon bones - red, white, and green - and wind bones - East, North, West, and South. Each of the bones occurs 4 times in the set.
Step 2
Turn the dice face down and mix them thoroughly, after which each player must build a wall in front of him, consisting of 34 dice: 2 high and 17 long. Join the edges of your walls so that the right edge of the wall stays free and the left edge forms a right angle with the wall of the player to your left.
Step 3
Now, by rolling the die, you determine which of you starts the first game. The player with the highest die roll becomes East Wind. Further from it, counterclockwise winds are distributed in the following order: North, West, South. The player who starts the next game is the dealer.
Step 4
The game consists of 4 rounds, each of which in turn consists of at least 4 games. However, the game can be very prolonged, because if the dealer wins, he retains the status of the dealer. Also, the dealer status does not pass to the next player in case of a draw - "fish".
Step 5
The dealer rolls a die to determine the player from whose wall the chips will start to be taken down. Count the dropped out number from the player sitting to the right of the dealer, counterclockwise. Then that player rolls the dice and counts the number of dice rolled on the dice from the right edge of the wall. The last pile of two bones is pulled out of the wall, the bones are placed one at a time on the pile closest to the break and on the pile one to the right, and are called free.
Step 6
The dealer starts to dismantle the wall first: he takes four bones. Behind him, the players take the dice counterclockwise. Having picked up 3 groups of 4 bones in your hands, you should take one at a time. The player must have 13 dice in each hand. Then the dealer gets one, the 14th bone.
Step 7
The move begins with the dealer, who chooses the dice he does not need and puts it on the table, clearly pronouncing its name. This tile can be taken by other players to form one of the combinations: chow - 3 consecutive tiles of the same suit, pung - 3 identical tiles, kong - 4 identical tiles. However, only the player sitting to the right of the walker can take a bone on the chow. Any player can take a dice for pung and kong.
Step 8
If the dice are needed simultaneously for chow and pung / kong by different players, then pung and kong are in priority. However, if the player needs a dice to complete the game - mahjong - he takes the dice, even if he forms a sequence with this dice. If the same tile for mahjong is needed by two different players, it is taken by the one who sits farther from the player who laid out this tile. If the player has collected kong, he must take any of the free dice.
Step 9
If no one has taken the laid out die, the turn goes to the next player. He takes one bone from the wall and places one on the table. Unused bones cannot be used later.
Step 10
If the player ends the combination with a dice from the table, it is considered open. If the combination is made from the dice obtained from the distribution and from the wall, the combination is not announced until the points are counted and is considered closed. The game is over if the player has collected 4 combinations of any kind and a pair of identical dice. When one dice is missing before mahjong, the player on his turn must declare “asking hand”.
Step 11
The scoring begins with the player who collected mahjong: he gets 20 points for the collected mahjong + additional points for the combinations: chow - 0, open / closed pung (2-8) - 2/4, open / closed pung (1, 9, wind, dragons) - 4/8, open / closed kong (2-8) - 8/16, open / closed pung (1, 9, winds, dragons) - 16/32. Also, 2 points are awarded for a pair of dragons, a pair of their own winds or winds of the round. For each pung / kong of its own winds, winds of the round and dragons, the sum of points is doubled.
