Ode - from the Greek "song" - a monumental genre of poetry. The main theme of a work in this genre is the praise of a specific person (historically significant person), people or events. The ode experienced its peak of popularity in Russia during the period of classicism, in particular, the famous odes belong to the pen of Lomonosov.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a specific topic. If you praise a person, then you should know him well (at least in absentia) and sincerely admire him. If the hero of the future ode is indifferent to you, this will be reflected in the text: the style will be dry and official.

Step 2

Examine a person or event. Read a biography or story, preferably from multiple sources. Of course, history largely rests on conflicting subjective opinions, but you can choose the most reliable one from several points of view. In this case, be guided not only by your attitude towards the hero, but also by common sense.

Step 3

Write a plan of events. Indicate the most significant moments in the life of your character. Under each event, list the actions of his allies and rivals, his own. At this stage, the poetic text is not yet connected, but if you "hear" individual phrases that characterize the behavior of the hero or other participants in the event.

Step 4

State the events listed in poetic language. Speech in the ode usually comes on behalf of the author, less often the second person is used ("you went in pursuit …"). Odes are not written in the first person.

In the ode, the use of direct speech enclosed in quotation marks is allowed. However, a detailed listing of actions is of greater importance, remarks are appropriate if it is impossible to express the hero's mood by other means.

Step 5

Classic odes are written in a language that now seems old-fashioned to us. Indeed, at that time both the grammar and the pronunciation of the Russian language were very different from the modern one; in addition, there was a much stronger connection with the Church Slavonic language (it sounded more often), which was also reflected in the vocabulary. For example, now we will use the word "sulfur" rather than "bogey".

Novice poets in odes sin with an abundance of borrowings from pre-revolutionary Russian, Old Slavonic, European languages, but at the same time rely on modern colloquial Russian. It looks, perhaps, funny, but the pathos of the ode is leveled. Stick to one style: either pre-revolutionary or modern. Which one to choose is up to you. But, you must agree, in a conversation about a pilot, you will clearly have to use many words that were not there in the era of Pushkin.
