Collecting shells on the seashore is a favorite activity of children. They beg their parents to take the treasure home. Then these "trophies" lie somewhere in the back cabinet. They interfere during cleaning, but it is a pity to throw them away. You can decorate a photo frame with shells or make a picture out of them, which will not only decorate your home, but also remind you of a happy vacation.

It is necessary

  • - shells;
  • - plywood, flat board or chipboard;
  • - PVA glue;
  • - stain;
  • - jigsaw;
  • - sandpaper.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a sketch. If you are not very good at pencil, find a suitable postcard or digital artwork. Scan the postcard, open it in Adobe Photoshop and make an outline image. Try to choose a drawing with few small details. The material you have to work with is very beautiful in itself. In addition, it has a certain texture, and this must be taken into account when drawing up a sketch. Resize the image and print.

Step 2

Prepare the base. It is best to use a thick enough plywood or board. A wooden cutting board, for example, is perfect. If there is a hole for a stud in it and you do not need it, glue a wooden cork into it and cover this area with a painting element. Sand a regular board so that the surface is flat. Consider whether you will keep the shells light or paint them. The choice of stain depends on this. In the first case, it is better to make the background darker, then the light shells will look more contrasting. If there is no stain on hand, you can use a dark solution of potassium permanganate. It gives shades from light brown to deep reddish brown.

Step 3

Draw on the board. This can be done, for example, with carbon paper. You can not sketch at all, but try to draw it right away on a board of shells, in the manner of a mosaic. If you decide to paint the shells, do it before you start gluing them. Use bright acrylic paints. The color depends on the nature of the picture. Of course, it is better to make a white swan from a white material, which is very similar to feathers. Flowers can be white or multi-colored, and for a landscape panel, you will most likely need elements of different colors. The seascape is a very appropriate theme. The shells painted in a greenish and bluish color perfectly transmit waves.

Step 4

It is best to glue such material with PVA glue. But you can use any other - universal or hot melt glue. Nobody forbids adding other materials to your picture. Beads and seed beads, seeds of exotic plants, or even the most common cereal, from which you can make flower stamens and spots on petals, will do.
