Manufacturers today offer a huge selection of various yarns, for every taste and color. But how to choose a good yarn so that it pleases not only as a finished product, but also in the knitting process.

Step 1
Twist. If the yarn has tightly twisted yarn, it will not work with knitting needles. The web may be skewed or stiff. This yarn is perfect for crocheting.
Step 2
Elasticity. The strength and elasticity of the thread are inseparable things from each other. Pull the thread several times. If the thread starts to break even with a slight tension, it is not worth buying such yarn. But if you still bought it, then add yarn with a stronger structure to it.
Step 3
Color fastness. If you decide to knit stripes or a pattern of colored yarn, check for fading. To do this, moisten the piece with water and, wrapping it with a white cloth, iron it with a hot iron. If there is no paint left on it, you can safely start knitting.
Step 4
The evenness of the thread. Look through the skein well for any thickenings and thin sections of thread. Unfortunately, only embossed patterns can be knitted from such yarn. For openwork knitting, it will not work.
