Instructions

Step 1

Draw a shape. It is not necessary to draw clearly, it is enough to make a sketch.

Step 2

To draw armor, you need to remember the basic rule - armor was never worn on a naked body or on ordinary clothes. Therefore, it is required to draw a sub-armor on top of the body. Usually it is a thick quilted caftan. It should create a bulge under the chain mail.

Step 3

Draw chain mail from rings. They are not clear circles or semicircles. In reality, the rings should look like a slightly deformed letter c. Make the first row "c" in one direction, the next row in the opposite direction.

Step 4

You need to know that chain mail is not made of lightweight material. The folds should be different from normal clothes. Where the chain mail is stretched, the rows should be more even, where it hangs down, the rings "pull together" in a heap. The material itself should sag under the weight, and not fit the body.

Step 5

The sleeves should blend into the shoulders. The edge of the sleeve is pulled out with a ladder. This is not the case in other places of the armor. The sleeve lowered down must be drawn by turning the sheet 90 degrees, the rings must be made larger.

Step 6

Choose the length of the chain mail. The maximum length can be just below the knee.

Step 7

Decide how your legs will be protected. If you choose chain mail, you need to keep in mind that tight trousers were also worn on the legs, so chain mail cannot be in the shape of a leg.

Step 8

Buckles and belts add special beauty to the pattern. They should be very clearly traced.

Step 9

On top of the chain mail, on the chest, you can draw a lamellar. It also consists of plates, but the shape can be different. The lamellar plates are fastened together with an overlap with a leather cord. This type of armor covers part of the torso, protecting the chest.

Step 10

Throw a kottu over your character's shoulders to add a unique touch. This is a semblance of a coat of arms that protected the armor from excessive heat in the sun. Here you can include imagination both in the material and in the picture on it.
