Decorating the interior for the holiday is a wonderful occasion to get the whole family together for an exciting creative process. Instead of a costly trip to the store for ready-made standard decorations, invite your household to create a holiday in the house together with their own hands. And you can choose the simplest material for decoration - colored cardboard or thick paper. Even old postcards and glossy magazine covers can be used. Try to decorate your home with a variety of cardboard balls - individually hanging and collected in garlands.

It is necessary

  • - thin cardboard (white, designer) / old postcards / thick magazine covers;
  • - scissors;
  • - brads;
  • - awl / rivet setting device;
  • - thread or fishing line (for hanging balls or connecting in garlands).

Instructions

Step 1

The first type of balls is very unusual and sophisticated. Such an element, made of sheet acrylic plastic, can also be made a permanent piece of furniture, for example, as a lamp. However, it looks great in cardboard, so copy it close to the original, or better yet, print the ball part template. This template is designed to make a ball with a diameter of about 35 cm. If you need a ball of a different diameter, resize the template, keeping its proportions.

Step 2

Circle according to the template and cut out 30 parts of the future ball from white cardboard. On each part, for ease of assembly, mark the control marks ("stars" and "arrows"), along which you can navigate, connecting the parts together.

Step 3

Begin assembling the ball by connecting parts at the same locations. At the junctions of "asterisks" with "asterisks" and "arrows" with "arrows", different types of connections will be obtained. Five parts are involved in creating a node for connecting corners with "stars", and three parts are involved in creating a node from corners with "arrows".

Step 4

When you connect the five pieces, you should end up with a pentagonal star-shaped element with a connecting knot in the center that resembles a flower with five petals. Collect six of these elements, and then connect them into a ball with knots from three corners.

Step 5

The second type of balls is good for decorating the Christmas tree and making garlands. Such balls can also be used for gift wrapping or simply as decorative elements, if you make them large enough.

Step 6

Take sheets of beautiful cardboard (although you can also decorate a finished white cardboard ball). Cut 15 strips with side sizes of 1, 25 cm and 10 cm. If the cardboard is two-color, lay the strips with the sides of the same color up and, without turning over, fold the strips into an even pile.

Step 7

Using an awl, pushpin, or a special rivet setting tool, punch 1.5mm holes from both ends of the paper stack. Pass the brads through these holes so that their cap is on the front side of the cardboard. On the reverse side, part the ends of the brads and press firmly against the cardboard.

Step 8

Now, starting from the bottom strip, turn each of them out - turn both ends of the strip 180 degrees around the brads, so that it arches. When all the strips are turned inside out, distribute them evenly so that they form a solid ball.
