Instructions

Step 1

"Night of Museums 2012" will take place on the night of May 19-20. All city museums in the evening will open their doors to visitors to present historical reconstructions, various guided tours and exhibitions. All these events will be dedicated this year to the theme "City Secrets". Part of the program will be stories of exciting stories about mysterious events and secrets that hide exhibition halls, libraries and museums.

Step 2

However, this action takes place not only in Russia, but also in 42 European countries. Every year, almost two thousand museums open their doors at night to those who are interested. Each country can have its own theme, it changes every year.

Step 3

The last Night of Museums, which took place from 21 to 22 May 2011, was dedicated to the theme of Space. The museums opened at 6 pm and showed everyone the "space programs". It should be noted that every year more and more enthusiasts who are interested in attending this action gather. It's still quite unusual to see libraries, galleries and museums at such an unusual time.

Step 4

Each time, many exhibition halls and museums join the event, preparing a special program for their night visitors. For example, in 2010 the following institutions became new participants in the action: the Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic, the Geological Prospecting Museum, the Museum of Playing Cards, three Peterhof museums and many others. Those wishing to come to them purchased a single ticket valid in all museums without exception (within their city). They were open from 6 pm to 6 am.

Step 5

Another innovation has occurred since last year: a library for the visually impaired and the blind, located in St. Petersburg, has joined the action. Thus, its employees are trying to erase some barriers, to demonstrate with the help of tactile books and other objects, how blind people understand and feel this world.
