Pinchas Zuckerman's parents were from Poland. They were one of the few Jews who survived the Holocaust. The musician's father was also directly related to music - for many years before the outbreak of the war, he worked as a violinist in the Polish State Orchestra. After moving to Israel, he founded his own music club, where he played in a musical ensemble.

early years

From the age of five, the boy began to study music. The first instrument he picked up was the flute. From the age of seven he became interested in playing the violin. For twelve years he has performed with the State Orchestra of Israel. Since then, his professional music career began. The future maestro's music teacher was Ilona Feker, who taught at the Shulamit Conservatory, where Pinchas studied.

In 1961, the famous cellist Pablo Casals heard the musician playing. He was impressed by the work of the young violinist, and recommended him to the USA-Israel Musical and Literary Foundation, where the musician went to continue his studies. Already in 1962, Zuckerman came to America and entered the Juilliard School of Music. Here Ivan Galamyan became his violin teacher. But the musician was not going to limit himself to the violin, and learned to master playing the viola. In parallel, he continued to receive a general education. He made his debut as a musician in the "Town Hall" in a concert organized by a charitable foundation in support of children. In 1966, the musician toured Italy, and gave a series of performances in this country. Among other things, he performed at the Italian festival in the city of Spoleto.

Success

The first significant success of the musician can be considered his victory at the Leventritt Competition, which was held in New York in 1967. This victory gave him ample opportunities, opening the doors of record companies for him, now he has already constantly toured the United States and Canada. In the sixties, Zuckerman positioned himself as a performer of musical parts on the violin and viola, he also performed chamber music. During this time he had a chance to perform with many musical groups, including the famous New Philharmonic Orchestra (Great Britain) and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

In the seventies, the maestro took up tight conducting. He has conducted many famous musical ensembles, including the British Chamber Orchestra. In the eighties, Zuckerman was at the head of the Saint-Paul orchestra. The musician does not forget about the Israeli orchestras, and from time to time plays the violin in the State Orchestra of Israel or conducts the musicians of this group.

Contribution to musical culture

The musician's playing has a deep and gentle sound. He is a virtuoso master of violin and viola. Since the nineties, the musician and conductor has been transferring his knowledge to the young. From that time on, he began teaching at American and Israeli music centers. He has won many prestigious awards, including two Grammy awards.

Today Pinchas Zuckerman lives in Canada. He is married and his wife is a violinist in the orchestra he leads. He has two daughters, who now also live in Canada, and their professions are related to music - Arianna sings at the opera, and Natalia sings folk.
