Sometimes you don't need special skills to create several unique handmade products based on one or two knitting patterns with your own hands. If you learn how to crochet and knit a ball, using a ready-made pattern, you can create a ball for a footbag, interior decoration, details for soft toys. And if you make multi-colored products of small diameter, you will get funny knitted balls for the Christmas tree.

Crochet a ball

Try tying a ball that can be filled with padding polyester or cotton wool and used as a safe baby ball. To do this, you will need 12 pentahedral parts with sides of 4 cm. Think over the colors of the future product and select the threads of the desired range - for each part of the ball - a pentagon - a separate color.

Take a 3mm crochet hook and make the first loop by winding the yarn around your finger a couple of times. Complete 3 links of the air chain and tie the center of the future part in the following sequence:

- a pair of double crochets;

- a pair of air loops;

- 3 double crochets and 2 air loops, repeat this 3 times.

Close the part circle with a connecting post. The hook should fit into the top lifting eye of the row. Continue crocheting the ball, adding a couple of extra double crochets on each side of the pentagon. This will make the part the size you want.

Turn 6 parts with the wrong side up and connect with half-columns to form a hemisphere. Do the same for the second half of the piece and join the two pieces of the piece, leaving room for the padding of the piece. Fill the crocheted ball with padding polyester or cotton wool, then sew the open sides of the product.

We knit a ball with knitting needles

Great knitted Christmas balls are made from a simple beveled quadrangle piece. Sew a piece of the desired width on two needles in straight and reverse rows, for example, 25 loops, in garter stitch. Sequentially, after every couple of rows, alternate strips of different colors, then the knitted New Year's bunk will turn out to be bright, colorful. Do not make edging.

Work in the following sequence:

- at the beginning of the row, complete the yarn;

- knit the last two loops of the row together;

- the next row - facial;

- continue garter stitch, adding a loop at the beginning through a row and subtracting one loop at the end.

For 25 loops of the inlaid edge, 60 rows of garter stitch are enough (the height of the knitted ball). Close the last row of the quadrangle, cut off the yarn, leaving a "tail" for sewing. Connect the piece by aligning the narrow sides, then pull and sew the bottom of the ball.

Stuff the garment with soft filler and tighten the remaining loose top securely. Insert the rest of the thread into the thickness of the ball and cut it off - the "tail" will remain inside. If you want to hang a knitted ball on the tree, crochet a loop from an air chain.
