What a pity it can be to see that your favorite thing, especially something as expensive as a leather jacket, is torn. Of course, you don't want to throw it away - and rightly so. Leather clothing can be repaired so that it is not only invisible, but also makes the thing even more interesting.
It is necessary
- - a plaster;
- - scotch tape;
- - scissors;
- - leather patches, matching color;
- - glue;
- - a patch of thin fabric;
- - sewing machine;
- - a special needle for the skin;
- - threads matching the color.
Instructions
Step 1
As soon as you notice that your leather jacket is torn, take emergency action. Go to your nearest pharmacy and buy a regular patch in a roll. Ask the pharmacist for scissors. Take off your jacket and examine the damage. Cut off the required amount of patch and glue the inside of the jacket at the tear or cut. This will make the defect invisible and prevent further damage to the item.
Step 2
At home, examine the damage carefully. If it is a small cut with smooth edges, it can be sealed from the wrong side with a suitable piece of thin fabric. To do this, you need to align the edges of the incision and fix them with tape from the front side. Glue a piece of fabric onto the wrong side. After the glue hardens, you can remove the tape. This method is good if the damage has a small area and is not in a prominent place, since the glue will make the skin hard and the glued area will still attract attention.
Step 3
If the damage is visible and fairly extensive, consider how you can beat it with a patch. To patch, the torn part of the jacket needs to be shaped with scissors. You need to trim the edges so that you get a circle, square, rectangle, etc. It may be necessary to make several of the same holes in the jacket to make it look like a trim.
Step 4
Find matching leather pieces. They can be cut from old or unwanted leather goods. Give the patches the same shape as the holes, but they should be slightly larger in size. Sew the patches on a sewing machine using a leather sewing needle.
