Natural leather products are still highly valued - they are reliable, practical and beautiful. Therefore, do not rush to throw away leather things that have already served their purpose, since you can make many beautiful and useful products from them with your own hands, for example, a wallet. This requires quite a bit of time, small pieces of elastic skin and of course hands, ready for interesting and fruitful activities.
It is necessary
- - genuine leather (leatherette);
- - awl;
- - button;
- - scissors;
- - sewing machine;
- - zipper;
- - lighter (matches);
- - ballpoint pen (chalk);
- - compasses (tea mug);
- - mallet, rubber roller;
- - press to install the button;
- - durable synthetic threads;
- - glue "Moment" ("Moment Marathon");
Instructions
Step 1
Make the details of the wallet pattern: the outer part (rectangle 20 * 36 cm), the inner part (square 20 * 20 cm), pockets for plastic cards (2 strips 19.4 * 5 cm), ovals for the flap (2 parts 12 * 8 cm). The finished wallet will be 20 * 10 cm in size, with two compartments for banknotes and a zippered compartment for coins, as well as four pockets for cards.
Step 2
Lay out all the details on the pieces of leather, marking their outlines with chalk on the outside of the leather. You can immediately mark the contour with an awl. When cutting, be sure to use a ruler and corners, otherwise, instead of rectangles and squares, you may get parallelograms and rhombuses.
Step 3
Cut out with a sharp knife or cutter (scissors) along the ruler all the details of the set of the future wallet. If desired, cut out recesses for your fingers at the card pockets. They can be done using a ruler with circles or a plastic spool of thread.
Step 4
Sew in a zipper. Mark a zipper slot on the square inner part, dividing the square in half with the handle on the seamy side. 2 rectangles measuring 10 * 20 cm should be treated. The middle of the wallet will be located here. Step 1 cm up or down from it and draw a second line so that the zipper is not on the fold.
Step 5
Step back another 1.5 cm and draw a third line. There will be a lightning bolt between the second and third lines. Step 1, 5 cm from the edges to the left and right of this rectangle to hide the edges of the lock. Cut the rectangle with a special cutter (scissors).
Step 6
When working with leather, you cannot use a basting stitch. Therefore, first apply glue around the perimeter of the slot, let it dry slightly (until it comes off) and carefully glue the zipper. Cut off the protruding ends so that they do not reach 2-3 mm to the edge. Attach the zipper foot and stitch on.
Step 7
For a smoother stitch, you can draw a barely noticeable line with an awl and focus on it when sewing. Approaching the "dog", raise the foot (while the sewing needle should be in the leather), unfasten the lock and continue to sew. Then, pulling the ends of the threads to the wrong side, tie two knots and melt the ends.
Step 8
Make a valve. Glue the ovals together by folding them inside out - to the inside out. Sketch the lines of the future stitching. Try on the flap to the folded blank purse, mark the sewing places of the flap and install the buttons on the outer part and on the flap. After installing the button, change the foot of the machine to Teflon and sew along the contour, then grind the valve.
Step 9
Make card pockets. Take the outside piece by placing it face up. Apply a thin layer of glue along the outline of the three sides of the pockets. Glue them, stepping back from the edge of the short sides by 1.5 cm, with the opening side facing the edge. Then stitch the pockets on the machine.
Step 10
Turn the piece over and mark the place for gluing the inside. Mark the middle of the part, draw a line, then step back from the short sides by 8 cm, draw lines, trying on the middle. Place (on the outer and inner parts) where the pocket for small change will be located (on the left), spread glue around the perimeter, and the other half of the inner part on the entire surface. Glue the details and stitch along the center line.
Step 11
Assemble your wallet. Turning the pocketed edges to the center, glue along the edge and sew. Pull the free ends of the threads to the wrong side and melt the ends. Work the folds with a mallet or rubber roller to help the purse take its final shape. Place it under a stack of books overnight for an even better shrinkage.
