The competition program of the 34th Moscow International Film Festival, which will be held from June 21 to June 30, currently includes 16 films. In addition, films from the Cannes Film Festival program will be shown within the framework of this festival (according to RIA Novosti). As for the film, which will be shown at the closing of the festival, this is still silent.
Petr Shepotinnik, director of the festival for public relations, notes that not all of the films have been approved yet, and some positions may be supplemented.
According to the program director of the film festival Kirill Razlogov, the MIFF 2012 will contain all the most relevant that is now available in the world cinema - from prize-winners of the Cannes festival to debutants from Russia, from Spanish-made animation thrillers to Eastern European documentaries, from the mainstream to what- then radical.
The film "Duhless" by Russian director Roman Prygunov will be shown at the opening of the festival. This is a screen version of the novel by Sergei Minaev.
What film will be shown at the closing of the Moscow International Film Festival is still unknown. However, according to Razlogov, he will be connected with an actor / actress who will arrive for the Stanislavsky prize. Who will receive this prize also remains a secret.
Now about the composition of the jury of the main competition. It includes Sergei Loban (winner of Silver George), Jean-Marc Barr (French actor, screenwriter, producer and director), Héctor Babenko (Brazilian director) and Adriana Chiesa di Palma (Italian producer).
By the way, the last film by Jean-Marc Barre - "The Sexual Life of a French Family" - will be shown in one of the parallel programs. The original title of the film is Chroniques sexuelles d'une famille d'aujourd'hui. As Kirill Razlogov admits, he was afraid to include this film in the competition.
In addition to the opening film of the Moscow International Film Festival, the main competition included three more Russian films. This is the film "The Last Fairy Tale of Rita" by Renata Litvinova; "The Gulf Stream under the Iceberg" - Yevgeny Pashkevich's almanac, which is based on the myth of Lilith (Adam's first wife); and also "Horde" by Andrey Proshkin. The last picture is an epic story about the Metropolitan of Kiev Alexy, who in 1357 went to the capital of the Golden Horde in order to restore the sight of the khan's mother. While waiting for the result of the operation, he worked as a stoker in the bathhouse.
