Almost every knitting woman is faced with the question “how to make a pompom”. Moreover, if you make a pom-pom with your own hands according to all the rules, then on a hat it will look no worse than an analogue made from natural fur.

Instructions
Step 1
There are several ways to make a yarn pom-pom with your own hands. They differ only in their basis. Yarn will be wound on it in the future. Patterns or a base can be created by yourself, with only a piece of cardboard and scissors at hand. To do this, cut out either two identical rings, or two identical horseshoes, or two squares.
Step 2
The classic way is to make a pom-pom on a round pattern. To do this, first decide on the size of the pompom. On hats, as a rule, pom-poms are used, the diameter of which is more than 9 cm.
Step 3
Having chosen the required size, cut out two circles of this diameter. Now inside, cut another circle down the center. Make sure that it is not very narrow. You will need to run a skein of yarn through it. For convenience, you can make a slot in the rings. Then you will get a horseshoe-shaped pattern. The difference in making a pom-pom on different patterns is only in the next step.
Step 4
Cut the yarn to a length of about 40 cm. Fold it in half and thread the tip through the beginning to create a kind of loop. Do not tighten it, but place it between the two rings so that it is completely covered by the circles. The end of the loop must be freely accessible. If you are making a pom-pom on a horseshoe-shaped pattern, then move this step to the moment when you cut the wound yarn. Or you can make not a loop, but simply put the thread between the horseshoes so that its ends hang freely along the two edges of the pattern.
Step 5
Start winding yarn around the rings. The more you wind, the more magnificent the pompom will be. Watch the thread tension. Do not let it be loosely stretched. The yarn should lie tight and evenly around the entire circle. Do not accidentally wrap the end of the loop that we put inside the circle.
Step 6
When you have wound the required amount of yarn, grasp it firmly with one hand. Take the scissors with your other hand and start cutting so that the lower blade of the scissors passes between the two rings. But be careful not to cut the thread between the rings.
Step 7
When you have cut all the yarn with the scissors, gently pull on the end of the loop. She will begin to pull together loose and already cut yarn strips.
Step 8
When you have tightened the loop as much as possible, remove the rings from the pompom. Twist one end of the loop a few times and tie a few knots while pulling tight.
Step 9
Straighten the pompom and trim it with scissors if necessary.
Step 10
If you want an unusual pompom, then you can find on the Internet a scheme for overlaying yarn colors. Thus, you will end up with a pom-pom with different shades or cut-fruit pom-poms.
