There is a tradition to prepare for the Easter holiday in advance. It includes a variety of egg decorating techniques. Painted eggs will not only find a place on your table, but it is also customary to give them to friends and acquaintances. One of the ways to create an original souvenir is decorating eggs using decoupage technique.
Decoupage of boiled eggs
Use a hard-boiled chicken egg for decoration. Prepare a starch paste. To make it, stir a tablespoon of starch well in a small amount of cold water. Then slowly pour in boiling water in a thin stream until the mixture begins to resemble jelly. Let the paste cool.
Choose napkins for decoupage so that their pattern reflects the theme of the holiday. The required pattern can be cut with scissors or gently pulled out by hand. Layer the napkin by separating the paint layer with the motif you want. Cover the surface of the egg with paste where the prepared picture will be located.
Place the cut motif on the adhesive surface. Use your fingers to straighten the folds. Proceed with caution, a wet napkin tears very easily. Place the egg on a stand and let the paste dry.
To create a festive mood, decorate the accompanying attributes of the feast with Easter motifs using decoupage technique: dishes, baskets, egg holders.
Decoupage on a raw chicken egg
The contents of a raw chicken egg must be removed. Wash the egg. Use a thick needle to pierce it from the side of the sharp edge. Poke a larger hole from the blunt end and pour the contents of the egg into a bowl. Rinse empty shells under the tap and leave to dry on a towel.
Separate the white layers of the napkin from the color. Divide the pattern into small pieces so that they can be conveniently glued to the egg. Apply the pattern on the shell and cover it with PVA glue on top, smoothing out the folds with a brush. Remember to cover the hole in the blunt part of the egg with a napkin motif. Dry your piece. Secure the drawing with varnish.
Decoupage of wooden blanks
Purchase blank eggs. They can be with or without stands. Cover the entire wood surface with acrylic primer or white acrylic paint. Leave the blanks to dry well.
Prepare a decoupage card or napkin with an Easter theme. To make the transition from the edge of the picture to the background easier to hide, tear out the picture with your hands, rather than cut it out with scissors. Peel off the color layer.
Beginners to master the decoupage technique can use special decoupage cards. They feel like tracing paper and do not have the fragility of a thin colored layer of napkins.
Glue each piece of napkin to the surface of a wooden egg using PVA glue. Use a dry soft brush to remove excess glue and air from under the picture, while straightening and smoothing the picture.
After the glue dries, apply acrylic paint, which will be the background for the finished picture. The egg stand can be decorated using the same technique or covered with a matching acrylic paint. Lacquer the finished souvenir.
