The counting strategy is based on the fact that the cards after the deal do not return to the game, so the player can know which of them are eliminated and which are still in the deck. There is a mathematical relationship, according to which it is more profitable for the player to have more than ten (cards from 10 to the king) and aces in the deck. That is, the more cards of lesser value come out of the game, the higher the probability of winning, and vice versa - if there are many tens and aces, the rates should be reduced or the game should be completely stopped.

There are several options for counting, one of the most famous is the one proposed in 1963 by Harvey Dubner. In this system, cards with denominations of 7, 8, and 9 are ignored. Cards from 2 to 6 are worth +1 point. Cards 10, B, D, K, T are evaluated at -1 point. The player carefully monitors the cards and makes a simple calculation in his mind: he adds 1 point for each card from 2 to 6 and subtracts for cards from 10 to T.

The player's actions depend on whether a positive or negative amount appears in his calculations. If it went into plus, then the mathematical advantage in the game is on his side, at +10 it is about 7%. And vice versa, if the account goes into negative territory, the advantage is on the side of the dealer. Based on this data, the player can raise or lower the rates.

There are more complex counting systems, but the general meaning remains the same.
