Old curtains, if desired, can quickly turn into an ottoman, pillows. If the curtains are in good condition, but just fed up, you can make new ones from them by sewing on a frill, lace or lambrequin. They can also easily turn into a cape for an armchair or sofa.
From very old curtains
If there are scuffs on the curtains, but there are still good places, turn the latter into a pillow-dummy. Cut a piece of fabric measuring 35x70 cm, bend it in half, sew on all sides, leave the hole unsewn for your hand to go through. Turn the pillowcase through it to the front side, stuff with pieces of syndepon or cotton wool, sew up the hole. You can sew pillows of various shapes from old curtains, decorate them with braid, embroidery.
Make potholders from the leftovers. If the curtains are dense, cut out 2 identical parts, fold them with the wrong sides, sew the braid around the edges, make a loop out of it in the corner to hang the potholder. If the curtains are made of thin fabric, insert a piece of thick fabric or foam rubber inside.
Container for toys, ottoman
Sew bags for children's toys from thick old curtains. To make kids want to put away their treasures in them, make appliques on the front side of the products. Pieces of fabric, leather are suitable for them.
Open the pouch. To make it not difficult for the child to lift it, make it small, for example, 20x30 cm. This means that you have to cut out a 22x66 cm canvas. This includes allowances for seams, hemming and folding the fabric in 2 times. Sew an applique to the right side of the bag. After that, fold it in half along the large side, sew the sides, fold the top 3 cm, make two lines at a distance of 1.5 cm from each other. Insert the shiny ribbon, tighten it with a bow.
Children will surely like ottomans that can be sewn from old curtains. A tapestry, velvet canvas will do. For a baby, the ottoman can be 26 cm in diameter and 40 cm in height. For this product, cut the canvas 88x42 cm. Fold 2 small sides, sew them together on the wrong side. Cut 2 circles with a diameter of 28 cm from the same fabric or leather. From the inside, sew the first circle to the bottom of the ottoman. To do this, put the rectangle on the smaller side, bend the resulting hole in the shape of a circle. Attach the bottom to it, sew these 2 parts. Sew one part of the split zipper to the circle that is the top. Sew the second one at the top of the rectangle, make it curved in the shape of a circle.
The ottoman can be stuffed with pieces of padding polyester or old children's things that are a pity to throw away. At any time you can unfasten the zipper, take them out and remember the times when children were very young.
If the curtains are in good condition, sew ruffles of a different color to them, make a lambrequin at the top or lay one canvas of curtains on the country sofa, cut the second in half, process the edges and put on 2 chairs. Country furniture will look amazing.
