Minus, or minus phonogram, is the musical accompaniment of a song, more often of a pop-jazz direction. Used when performing from a big stage, in karaoke clubs, restaurants. It differs from the "plus" phonogram ("plywood") in the absence of a recorded part of the voice, in some cases, and backing vocals.
Instructions
Step 1
Sketch the melodic-harmonic outline of the song. Include the instrumentation for each part (intro, chorus, bridge, solo, finale).
Step 2
The next stage in creating a "minus" is recording the drum part. Arrange the microphones connected to the mixing console for all the instruments used, attach another microphone to the speaker, already included in the microphone input of the computer. Then, after pressing the record button, the part is played.
When working with an electronic music studio, instead of a live drummer, type in a part from samples. Make them sound realistic, adjust the attenuation or increase in volume at certain moments.
Step 3
The second instrument is the bass guitar. Connect it to the amplifier, attach a microphone to the speaker, press the record button.
In a virtual studio, you can replace the musician with low frequency samples.
Step 4
This is followed by filling the mid and high frequencies with subwoofers. Choose for this any melodic instruments to your liking. When using acoustic instruments, attach the microphone to the sound source (resonance hole, bell), connect electronic instruments to amplifiers, and place the microphone in front of the speakers. On virtual ones, select samples and insert songs in the right places.
Step 5
Process the recording: adjust the volume, special effects (echo, reverb), remove unnecessary noise. The phonogram is ready for use.
