Avatar: The Legend of Aang is an animated series created by Brian Konietzko and Michael Dante Dimartino. The official producer is Nickelodeon Studios. The cartoon includes elements of anime and American animation, which makes it unique.
The animated series is set in a fictional world based on oriental culture. The inhabitants of this world are able to control four elements: water, fire, earth and air. In the center of the plot is the adventure of the avatar Aang and his friends.
Most of the main characters are children and adolescents, but there are also many adult characters. The series is designed for a different age category and belongs to the "family".
Avatar has been nominated and won the Enya, Peabody, Emmy, Genesis Awards and some others. In 2010, a film adaptation of the project called "The Lord of the Elements" was released, but it was not successful among viewers. Also in April 2012, a sequel to the series began, dubbed The Legend of Korra. New episodes are still being released.
Background
The prehistory tells that the ruler of the Land of Fire, Sozin, decided to start a war and captured most of the world. Avatar (the lord of all elements), who was born among the magicians of the air, had to save humanity, but at that time he was still a child and, frightened of his destiny, left home.
Flying over the ocean, he was caught in a storm and, in order to save his life, imprisoned himself in an iceberg. Sozin, wanting to get rid of the avatar, completely destroyed the air mages.
For fans of the series, many products have been developed: a collectible card game, LEGO constructors, comics, figurines, video games and much more.
The main action begins to unfold when the water mage Katara and her brother Sokka find the avatar Aang and help him get out of the iceberg. From this moment, a whole series of dangerous adventures, depicted in the series, begins.
main characters
Aang is an avatar, the last of the air mages. Biological age - 12 years. For the invention of a special magical device, he was awarded the title of master, for which he received tattoos in the form of arrows. The role of an avatar is a burden to him, he wants to be an ordinary child.
Katara is a girl from the Southern Water Tribe. She is 14 years old. She is the only water mage of her clan. Has the gift of healing. She tries with all her might to warn Aang against the wrong choice and helps to maintain unity in the group.
Sokka is a 15-year-old brother of Katara, a warrior of the Southern Water Tribe. This is a typical teenager who does not want to reckon with other people's opinions. He prefers weapons to magic, especially the boomerang, which his father gave him before leaving for the war.
Toph is one of the strongest magicians on earth. She is a 12-year-old girl who was born into a wealthy family. Toph is born blind, but can sense vibrations in the earth. She is clean and open, but at the same time straightforward and rude.
