There are two main storylines in prison films: either the hero tries to escape from prison, or becomes a leader among the prisoners.

Step 1
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
The storyline of the dramatic film is based on the famous story "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Rescue", written by Stephen King. The film is considered the best among the best films on many film portals. The film was also nominated for an Oscar in 7 nominations. A very successful bank employee Andy is sentenced to prison. The court accused the banker of the murder of his beloved and her lover. The hero is transferred to Shawshank prison. Within the walls of the prison, Andy sees only excessive cruelty and lawlessness. The hero begins to develop an insane escape plan, although no one has yet managed to escape from Shawshank.
Step 2
The Green Mile (1999)
The fantasy drama The Green Mile is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. The film competed for the Oscar in 4 nominations. John Coffey was charged with a gruesome crime and sentenced to death. He was sent to the Cold Mountain prison, on death row. John Coffey had an impressive height and was not nervous before executions, which greatly surprised the boss of Paul Edgecombe. It was later revealed that John has magical powers.
Step 3
"Outlaw" (2008)
"The Criminal" is a crime drama. The main character was a wonderful family man and already had big plans for the future when he accidentally kills a thief who climbed into his home in the middle of the night. The court denied the self-defense case and sentenced the hero to 3 years in prison in a maximum security prison. A family man will have to survive for three years in a place where no rules apply.
Step 4
"Law Abiding Citizen" (2009)
Law Abiding Citizen is a dramatic thriller. The prosecutor makes a deal with the criminals and releases them from prison at the appointed time. Among the criminals was the killer, at whose hands the wife and child of the protagonist died. The hero decides to seize the moment and bring justice to the district attorney who allowed the murderer to escape. The hero is caught and imprisoned, but he unexpectedly sets his own conditions to the jailers: he will kill people without even leaving the walls of the prison, while his demands remain unfulfilled. And people really start to die.
Step 5
Big Stan (2007)
The action comedy "Big Stan" will tell the viewer the story of how the cowardly con man Stan became the most powerful man in prison. Stan was sentenced to prison for fraud. Stan is in a panic - he is sure that he will not survive the first day of imprisonment. To protect himself, the hero turns to a martial arts master - an alcoholic who has incredible physical strength.
