Sometimes it happens to hear a song on the radio or in a store that you like, but neither its name nor the artist is known. Fortunately, there are several ways to find a nice song by knowing only a few words from its lyrics.

Step 1
If you memorize entire sentences and phrases (and even if you only remember individual words), you have a good chance of recognizing the artist on the Internet. Open any search engine and enter a sentence from the song lyrics in the search bar. You can also add the word lyrics to your query if you are looking for a song in a foreign language, or "lyrics" if the song is in Russian. Chances are, a search engine will give you a list of the lyrics pages for the song you want. There should also be the title of the song and the name of the artist. But this will only happen if the song is popular. If it's a recent show or the performer has a limited audience, this method may not help.
Step 2
Another option is to ask knowledgeable people. Try to go to the forum of fans of a particular style of music to which the song belongs, and ask if they know the composition with such words. It will be helpful if you also describe the gender of the artist, manner and other details about the song.
Step 3
If you heard the song on the radio, try to find it on the radio station's website or use the What is this song? (e.g. moskva.fm and piter.fm). For this, it is advisable to remember the radio station and the time when the song was played.
Step 4
If the song is a soundtrack for a movie, then type in the search engine a query in the form "Movie_name + soundtrack" or "Movie_name + ost". You will find a list of songs that were played in the film. Finding the desired song among them will now be easy.

There are English-language resources for finding songs: musipedia.org and midomi.com. Connect a headset or microphone to your computer. At musipedia.org, click Record and start humming the song's tune. In this case, the accuracy of hitting the notes is more important than the correctness of the words. When done, click Stop, then Play. If a similar composition is found, it will be played. On midomi.com, click Click and sing or hum. Sing the tune and press Stop.
