Frankincense is one of the oldest incense in the world, mentioned in the Bible. Today, it is still used in worship in Orthodox and Catholic churches, and is also widely used in perfumery and aromatherapy. At home, incense can be used as an incense that creates a pleasant atmosphere in the room and soothes the nervous system well. But because it is a tree resin and is sold in hard chunks, people can often find it difficult to burn it.

Instructions

Step 1

Frankincense, like any other aromatic resin, is not flammable by itself. Therefore, for its incense, an external source of heat is required, under the influence of which the incense begins to melt and emit fragrant smoke, that is, to smoke.

Step 2

Traditionally, in churches, special vessels - censers - are used to fumigate a room with incense. The censer (or as it is also called, the censer) is a closed metal vessel in the shape of an elongated bowl, suspended on chains. Hot coals are placed in it, and on them are pieces of incense or other aromatic mixture. The smoke comes out through the holes in the censer and fumigates the room.

Step 3

To light incense at home, you will need a censer, a small brazier, or a fireproof bowl in which you can place burning coals. You can also use just a metal plate mounted over an open flame of a candle, alcohol burner or lamp. Pieces of incense are laid out on a plate or coals and heated to the stage of melting. It is important to remember that the lower the heat, the thinner the incense will be.

Step 4

Charcoal tablets, which are sold in church shops or esoteric stores, can be used as fuel for burning incense at home. Charcoal is also suitable for hookahs. It is also sold as small sticks and tablets that are convenient to use at home. Charcoal is fired with ordinary matches. If you are having trouble, you can use a special charcoal lighter fluid available from hardware stores.

Step 5

When fumigating an apartment or house with incense, you need to keep in mind that its heavy aroma, if excessively concentrated, can cause headaches and dizziness. Therefore, when lighting incense in an apartment, take care of good ventilation of the room and do not close the vents or windows throughout the entire fumigation time, so as not to harm the health of those present.
