Video: Teach Yourself to Sew Project: Make a Skirt 2022, December

The skirt is one of the basic wardrobe items that allows you to create combinations in various styles with other garments. Several basic models of skirts must be present in the wardrobe of any lady: a strict straight pencil skirt, a pleated A-line skirt and a flared skirt with a yoke. Sewing a skirt of a simple design will not cause difficulties even for novice seamstresses. One of the easiest to perform is the semi-sun skirt on the yoke. It can be of any length - from mini to maxi.

It is necessary

  • - soft flowing fabric
  • like silk satin, viscose or knitted fabric - 1 length + 10 cm for a short skirt; 2 lengths + 20 cm for a long skirt;
  • - glue pad (thin dublin or non-woven) - 15-20 cm;
  • - hidden zipper;
  • - paper for building patterns, drawing accessories;
  • - centimeter, sewing accessories, sewing machine.

Step 1

You do not need a basic skirt pattern to build a yoke skirt pattern. All you need is to take the following measurements: waist circumference (OT), hip circumference (OB) and product length (CI).

Step 2

Build a yoke pattern. Its base is a rectangle with a height of 20 cm and a width calculated by the formula: (OB + 1 cm) / 4. Line AA1 - waist line, BB1 - hip line.

Step 3

From point A1, step back 1.5 cm and connect the resulting point A2 to point A. On this line from point A, measure the distance found by the formula: OT / 4 + 2, 5. You will get the top line of the AA3 yoke.

Step 4

On it, draw the solutions of the two darts. The beginning of the first dart is at a distance of 7 cm from point A. Mark the gap of the first dart - 1.5 cm, and divide the remaining length of the yoke top line in half. From the marked point, set aside 0.5 cm in both directions - the solution of the second tuck.

Step 5

Connect points A3 and B1 with a smooth curve - this is the line of the side seam of the yoke. Along it and along the AB line downward, set aside 11 cm (the height of the yoke) - points B and B1. Connect these points with a line slightly curved towards the bottom (bottom line of the yoke).

Step 6

From the middle of the solutions of both darts, draw lines perpendicular to line AA3 until it intersects with line BB1. Decorate the darts by connecting the edge points of the solutions (on the top line of the yoke) and the depth points (on the bottom line of the yoke).

Step 7

Cut the yoke along the outline of the drawing, without cutting the darts all the way. Close the dart solutions and tape them together.

Step 8

Draw a right angle for the pattern of the skirt. Draw a bisector from its top (the middle of the panel and the direction of the lobe thread).

Step 9

From the vertex on both sides of the corner and along the bisector, set aside segments equal to 2 × Вкок - 2 cm. Connect the obtained points with a compass. From these points in the same directions, measure the length of the skirt minus the height of the yoke (11 cm). Draw out the line of the bottom of the skirt with a smooth curve, which is a quarter of a circle.

Step 10

Cut out four parts (outer and inner) of the folded yoke and two parts of the skirt panel. Attach the yoke pattern to the fold of the fabric and circle it twice with tailor's chalk. Seam allowances - 1.5 cm.

Step 11

Then fold the fabric pattern in half (along the bisector line) and, applying it to the fold of the fabric (along the longitudinal line), circle it the same way twice. Make allowances: at the top and sides - 1.5 cm, and at the bottom - 4 cm. Cut out two panels.

Step 12

Also cut out two pieces of the yoke from a thin glue strip (with allowances). Strengthen the yoke parts with a gasket through an iron with a hot iron. On the left side cut of the skirt, set aside a 4 cm section on top and set a reference point for sewing in the zipper.

Step 13

Fold the outer yoke pieces with right sides and sew the right side seam. Do the same with the inner details of the yoke and the two pieces of the skirt. Iron the allowances. On the skirt, overcast all the cuts except the top.

Step 14

Fold the bottom of the outer yoke with the top of the skirt, face to face.Gently cleave the fabric, evenly distributing the lengths of both cuts relative to each other. Baste and machine stitch. Press the seam allowances up and cut to 0.5 cm.

Step 15

Sew a concealed zipper into the open left side seam. Then sew this seam from the control point to the bottom edge.

Step 16

Grind the top cut of the outer yoke piece with the inner piece: fold the pieces face to face, align the top cuts and machine stitch along the top edge of the yoke. Iron the allowances on the inner part of the yoke, cut them to 0.5 cm. Lay out the two parts of the yoke flat and stitch the allowances on the inner part at a distance of 0.1 cm from the joint seam.

Step 17

Tuck the side seams of the inner yoke inward and sew them with blind stitches to the zipper tapes. Also, tuck the bottom allowances of the inner yoke and sew them to the allowances of the skirt panel ironed upwards, hiding the joint line between the panel and the outer yoke. Iron the yoke around all edges.

Step 18

Fold in the hem allowance by 2 cm and then another 2 cm. Carefully press and hem the hem with blind stitches.
